Quotes of the Day
The Hero We Deserve
In modern times, each of us knows what the word ”Geek” means. Currently this word recognized by people as a normal thing, but did you know that just a few decades ago, to hear that word in your address was an unpleasant insult. The childhood of such children, children who watched ”Doctor Who” all day long, and read comics about super heroes, was pretty hard. But thanks to that exact time and environment, that has formed the uniqueness of the personality of many creators of modern times. Today, I would like to highlight one of them, the man we’re going to talk about further, Edgar Wright.

Edgar Wright is a British film director, screenwriter, actor and producer. Whose work I personally appreciate and respect very much. The Director definitely has his own style, formed over the years. We will continue to analyze the styles and special techniques used by the Director. But today, I’d like to share with you to some of his works, that you may like.
Cornetto Trilogy

Non official trilogy « Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy » or «Blood and Ice Cream trilogy» directed by Edgar Write, and his close friends Simon Pegg & Nick Frost. The name originally came from the English belief that Cornetto ice cream helps with hangovers. These films are united by this Cornetto ice cream. The same actors are starring, but the storylines of the films are not connected at all.
The first film (Shaun of the Dead) is about romantic comedy, where zombie apocalypse takes place. The color of the ice cream in this film is red, which symbolizes blood.
The second movie is “Hot Fuzz”. Well, from this movie we can see how much director’s and writer’s skills have changed. To the good side of course. The film basically is a copcomedy. Where Simon Pegg’s character is an excessively successful London policeman, who catches all the criminals without leaving work for his colleagues. So they decides to send him far away, to some village.
And from that moment the story begins…
“The worlds end” the last film of trilogy. The genre of this film is more Sci-fi apocalyptic comedy. Film tells us about five friends, that meet again over the years in order to complete the thing they haven’t, when they were young. But it turns out it’s not as easy as they thought.

Movie Date

Today is the birthday of the famous English writer, Charles Dickens. Reasonable questions may appear on reader’s minds, like: –”Wait a minute, how movies can be related to him? Whereas Dickens lived long before the cinematography? Also, he was a writer, not an actor or director…”, and partly those people are right. Yes, the origin of history of cinematography dates back to 1895, while Dickens left this world twenty-five years earlier. But not agreeing with the fact that his works have had a big impact on the movie industry is impossible. From the very beginning of cinematography to our time. Different directors are inspired by the books of Charles, and many of them tried, and still tries to implement his book on the big screen. Some of them did it good, and some didn’t.
Below I collected my personal list of favorites:
Oliver Twist (2005)
Director: Roman Polanski
Starring: Barney Clark, Ben Kingsley, Jamie shaped.
Probably one of the world’s most famous film adaptations of the novel about the adventures and life of Oliver Twist. The film tells us a story of the life of a homeless boy, abandoned by his parents to the mercy of fate. An abandoned child now has to learn how to survive himself, sometimes acting illegally. Until he meets a person on his way, who changes the world of boy.
The Pickwick papers (1985, TV series)
Series quantity: 12.
Director: Brian Lighthill
Starring: Nigel Stock, Clive swift, Alan Parnaby, Jeremy Nicholas.

The plot is quite interesting. An English gentleman of middle-ages tells about his adventures that he has met, and gone through with his friends during their journey across England. Film mainly portrays, perhaps inherent only to the Brits, humor. The comical and ridiculous situations, that follows the main characters, makes this movie an excellent adventure comedy.
